![]() Thus, spectrum disorder classification is reflective of the heterogeneous nature of ASD. With the establishment of the DSM-V (diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders, fifth edition), these formerly separate diagnoses were brought under one unifying umbrella as ASD ( 3) (see chapter 2). The term incorporates several conditions such as idiopathic forms, including autism, Asperger syndrome and Pervasive Developmental Disorder - Not Otherwise Specified, and Childhood Disintegrative Disorder and certain genetic disorders like Rett syndrome, which can exhibit autistic traits ( 3). Nowadays, the umbrella term “autism spectrum disorders” (ASD) is used to describe a clinically heterogeneous group of neurodevelopmental disorders that share common behavioral core features affecting social communication and include restrictive and repetitive stereotypic behavioral patterns and interests. Hans Asperger adopted the term autism in the 1940s to introduce a syndrome in children with behavioral differences in social interaction and communication, and restrictive and repetitive interests ( 1, 2). Hostel was better, and that says a lot about the quality of Pathology. While “autism” as a term was initially introduced to describe a behavioral symptom of self-withdrawal in schizophrenic patients, psychiatrists Dr. Lauren Lee Smith and Alyssa Milano are smoking.Ģ/10. The former is the usual stuff you get from every gore horror movie out there right now. It seems then the only things going for the movie are the gore and sex. You dont get the feeling that they are anywhere perfect or even competent. Any 15 year old kid could make this up with a medical dictionary. You also don't get to understand how the doctors actually perform these. Every main character is irredeemably evil that the audience cant empathize with anyone of them. I find it incredulous that a bunch of pathologists can do the things they do here, not helped, of course, by awful acting at every turn. The movie paints people in a bad light, but it never, ever for a single moment manages to convince us. If you love extreme violence, tons of blood & guts, loads of nudity and sexuality, and smart storytelling, then this film is for you. Pathology is the best horror film so far of 2008. And in some instances, you'll have to gag while laughing  Of course, if you enjoy dark, and even disgusting, humor then you'll also be able to see the film's comedic side. Gray (Ventimiglia) states that only an animal can kill the way we kill. The film quickly points out the even though we can think rationally, we are still animals. The film is extremely pessimistic towards humanity. The downfall to Pathology is for those of us who tend to be the glass is half-full people. It also concentrates more on the sex and nudity, so if you need T&A to keep your interest, this film has it, in almost every scene (of course, some of the nudity is dead bodies, but who knows, you may be into that :p ). One thing this film does is concentrate on the story more than the blood and guts. The viscera definitely, without a doubt, beats anything the Hostel and Saw films have brought to the table, but it is hardly noticeable. It is an extremely clever, if not a little over the top, horror film that will fit nicely into my library of, well other sick horror films. I felt all warm and fuzz inside watching it. This film is truly the guiltiest of guilty pleasures, at least for me. Synopsis: The story centers on a young intern (Milo Ventimiglia) who is studying pathology at Philadelphia's University Hospital and encounters an attractive but murderous group of colleagues who have devised a deadly game to see who among them can commit the perfect murder, while the others compete to determine the cause of death.
